London Sights

Day 1 in London

After a 14 hour flight from Singapore yesterday we arrived in London. Today was going to be a rest day, but we ended up seeing Big Ben, the London Eye Buckingham Palace and we walked around Wimbledon town while Dad was catching up with one of his old work friends in Sloane Square. At our hotel we have a buffet breakfast included which is one of my favorite things, because I got bacon and eggs and a fruit salad, and rubbery pancakes (yucky) for breakfast.

When we went to Buckingham Palace everybody was getting ready to see King Charlie get given a new fancy hat. It was so busy there we didn’t have much time to see the palace. But overall it was a good day.

I loved my time living in London, so I felt like a kid in a candy store being back here (or an adult finding toffee poppets at a corner store).

After showing the kids the sights, while experiencing the coronation vibe and crowds.  I took them to Wimbledon to show them where Leona and I lived. It was fun retracing the steps from my past.

Seeing today's sights through Alyssa and Max's eyes was entertaining. Both thought where I lived was a nice area. Alyssa was surprised at how small Buckingham Palace is and Max was impressed with everything. He also spent a lot of the day refining his British accent.

Singapore Day 2

 28th of April

The final day in Singapore

Today we went to the Adventure Cove Waterpark and had a blast. The way to get around the huge park was to float on a raft around a giant lazy river. Not saying who; but Mom couldn't get on the raft on a orderly fashion and resorted to the trusty stairs on the side. Half way around the river there was a reef snorkelling pool that Mom loved because she didn't need a raft. After the snorkel we carried on in the river to some hydroslides where we spent the rest of the day. After the water park Dad and I had dinner at the Plaza and went to a tree light show, but we missed most of the show, however we got some cool photos at the end.

Donna’s thoughts and observations on her time in Singapore…

1. It turns out you can actually sweat from every skin pore of your body at the same time.

2. Vaping is banned, but smoking is still very much a thing here. The lovely areas designated for smoking are always from what I have seen packed.

3. The Mandai Zoo (formerly known as the Singapore Zoo) is just as awesome as I remember it from my last visit over 20 years ago. However the removal of the air conditioned shelters was a disappointment. The night Safari was brilliant.

4. Adventure Cove Rainbow Reef is a very cool experience due to the amount of fish that you can see, all the while knowing that you are not going to encounter a shark.

5. Our first stop has been wonderful, but action packed. Both kids have made sure that we are going to slow it down going forward.

Sweating in Singapore

 27th of April

The First Day In Singapore

Today we went to Mandai Zoo and had a day long battle against the hot, humid temperature. Some of our favourite animals included a white tiger, a bunch of orangutangs, a range of different monkeys, a sloth and a ring tailed lamer. After getting back from the zoo we had a quick swim at the hotel pool and got our dinner at the Plaza. After an amazing dinner we went back to the Zoo for the night safari. We saw massive lions, huge deer and my favourite, Chawang the massive elephant. We also went on our first train of our holiday I'm sure I won’t like them by the end of it, but today it was fun. Mum shared her passion for people watching with me and I had a blast watching funny people.

April 25th Anzac Day

 APRIL 25th

The day before we leave...

Everyone is very excited for big adventure that awaits. Today has been slightly stressful getting packed and the house clean to Dad's standards (very clean). There was a big decision on what pack to bring made by Alyssa and a mission for bag tags. P.S if you need bag tags save the family tensions and go straight to Mitre 10.

The day before we leave...

Bags packed, To Do List almost done (close enough though), passports ready, toes painted. Time to live the adventure that has taken 4 years to actually happen.
