After a three hour car ride with a stop at a town to walk around the city wall we made it to the Old West Ranch in Windlesbach. I already knew this is going to be my favorite place on this trip!
We came here a little early and kind of stressed the lady out but she was lovely and gave us our clean and tidy mini ranch house cabin. This whole ranch is like stepping back in time 100 years ago and living life how people would have back then. Except for the fancy stove and oven which took took a bit of working out! The whole house is wooden on the inside and all of the doors including the bathroom doors have keys to lock them which I thought was pretty cool. Right outside the bathroom window is the stables where the guests horses are being kept which is cool, but we may have slight trouble sleeping for the next few nights.
The inside isn't even the coolest part can you believe it? Outside it is like an old village from back in the day with a saloon across the road from us, a bank, a town hall, a barber shop and all sorts of cool and colourful things. Also in the middle of the road is a fake cow and lasso which the whole family spent the afternoon trying to master. It is much, much, much harder than you think and I have no clue how people do it when the cow is actually moving. In the end however we all managed to lasso the 'cow' at least once! We might just become as good as the professionals by the time we leave here!
The best part of the day though was when I finally was able to get back on a horse again. The man who owns this place was nice enough to let me ride is beautiful 24 year old horse this afternoon, which was an awesome experience. I rode her western style in their outdoor arena and had fun walking and trotting her around. I have never ridden a horse that is so responsive and easy to ride it was awesome!
So from just this afternoon it is definitely safe to say that this place is awesome and going to be one of the best spots on the holiday!

Today we started off the day by calling some family. I really enjoyed that. If you read yesterday's blog you will know that we are currently in a mystery location. This is the coolest place yet. It is called The Old West Ranch and it is awesome, as the name says it is an old western style town. Each cabin has a different theme to it. We are in the cowboy cottage but there is also a liquor store a bank and a town hall. Alyssa got to ride a very kind man's horse. She will tell you all about that I'm sure. One of the very many unique things at the Old West Ranch is the lassoing practise, it is right outside our door. There is a wooden cow head on a post and a lasso by it and the aim it to lasso the cow horns and body. This is very, very, very hard.
This is quite a short blog as today was spent mainly in the car.

Super cool place, very jealous because we went to Texas a few weeks ago & didn’t even see any real cowboys! Anita x
ReplyDeleteI love how much you are all enjoying ranch life. (I'm wishing you'd done a wee $2 Shop trip beforehand for costumes, though.)
ReplyDeleteAlyssa - so happy for you that you got to ride....and that it went so well.
Loving this instalment team! Alyssa I am so stoked that you got to ride! That horse sounds amazing. So Western style… does that mean a western saddle? In my opinion they are the comfiest! Keep the updates coming - am loving them!
