Paris in a Day

Yesterday we arrived in Paris at around 3:45 and chilled until we went out for dinner. This morning Alyssa and I had a sleep in until about 10. This never happens anymore! We then went down to the train station to get tickets for the bus. (I thought it was strange too). We got a hop on hop off bus tour around the main attractions of Paris. We saw the Eiffel Tower , the Arc de Triomph, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Louvre where the Mona Lisa is. We didn't go and see it though. After the sightseeing we went on a river cruise. We replaced Alyssa with a slightly older quite pushy Indian woman who became Mum’s involuntarily best friend. On the cruise we saw a lot of bridges and realised how long the Louvre was. We were all starving after the cruise so we got some expensive cold hot dogs. Lesson of the day: bring snacks and don't buy food around tourist hotspots.

After our cold dogs we got on a bus for ages, me and Alyssa got bored and went to the back of the bus and started trying to collect leaves off the trees that went past. After the looong bus ride we went to a tube station and got on the first tube we saw. Unbeknownst to us we were in the tube when a big thunder storm went past and left the ground soaking. Almost as wet as our rear end from the bus seat. We got home and lied down in our beds for about an hour before going to get dinner. Alyssa and I got mac and cheese while mum and dad got a salad bowl each. After dinner we all went straight to bed.

A few random thoughts so far…

1. An unexpected challenge we have encountered is working the different showers in different places. It sounds like an easy enough task, but has proved a challenge in 3/3 places so far for a least a couple of us.

2. The kids have done so well and we have been going at a fast pace. Today the effects of this showed with them both sleeping until 10! Luckily soon our days won’t be so action packed.

3. Always, always make sure you have snacks (Tash, I failed in sorting some snack packs today). We ended up
buying a way overpriced lunch to calm the hangry down.

  4. Snack packs and supermarket are your best friends. Means you buy the nice food you want instead of rushing to calm the hangry.
