Speeding through Montenegro

I’m

In my opinion Montenegro was awesome in many ways and also had a few quirks. One of the quirks I am talking about is their 'amazing' ability to park cars. Everywhere you looked there you would be able to see a car either terribly parked or parked in the strangest place, like in the middle of the road with its hazard lights on. It became quite a fun game to find the funniest parked car.

One of the awesome things was the speed boat tour.
We had originally planned and booked the tour for Thursday but the weather was terrible and they had to cancel and postpone until Saturday. On Saturday it was still raining and windy but the tour still went ahead as the sea wasn't super choppy and the weather was supposed to clear not long after the tour started. We got on the speed boat and the whole family got to sit in the back when everyone else had to sit in the front which was a great deal. It rained a bit on the way to our first stop which was the man made island with a church on it called Lady of the Rocks. I was right in the hit zone of the rain but that wasn't a bad thing because I had fun getting splashed and blown around!

We stopped briefly on the island and went into the old church. We went behind the big pillar thing at the front where you could reach into a hole and touch some rock that was part of a cliff. I got a shock when I reached in as it turned out there were coins in there, I don't know what I thought it was before I realized it was coins but it sure gave me a scare!

After the island we went into the submarine tunnels which were used to hide submarines in the second world war. The tunnels were made by using dynamite and had gates that were covered in shrubs and leaves as a camouflage in the war so that it was impossible to tell there was a tunnel. From those tunnels we went to the stunning blue cave. Mum and Max went swimming in there but me and dad were too cold from the boat ride to go swimming in the freezing cold water like crazy people. The water in there was sooooooo blue and clear that you could almost see right to the bottom of the water from the boat.

Going back was the best part. By then the water calmed down and became flat and we went really fast the whole way which was just under an hour. The guide also played some great music that we sang and danced to in the back of the boat.

Overall Montenegro was awesome even when the weather did the opposite of what the forecast said but we had a semi heated pool that was warm enough to swim in even when it was raining and the sea was also quite warm. The best thing about the hotel was definitely the fact that you could jump into the sea off the edge of the pool area then hop out and jump into the warm pool. Me and Max had a lot of fun doing that on the first day!

I'm going to miss Montenegro but I can't wait to start looking around and exploring Greece!
Alyssa.
