Coronation Day, Goodbye London, Hello Paris

Today was King Charles coronation, as people poured into London we made our way out. We booked our tickets out before the coronation was announced. The vibe around the city was a vibrant one. People were dressed up, shops were decorated and so were the streets and tube stations. The amount of police around was phenomenal! There were cops walking the streets, on motorcycles, horses, in cars and in the tube stations. I was sad to be saying goodbye to London once again.

Today we sadly had to leave London behind and say hello to Paris and our dinky little apartment kind of thing. The train ride to Paris was full of cool scenery and a giant tunnel. After arriving in Paris we went out for dinner and tried some snail's also known as escargot. Every one liked them except me. They tasted like slimy clumps of dirt with a garlic in the middle. I really didn't want to swallow it but the French dude at the bar was looking at me so I kinda had to. Lucky the croissants are good!

My first Impression on London was 'eek!' as we got there at night time and to get to our hotel we had to walk down the busy streets of London with the homeless people down them. Thankfully though, when I woke up in the morning I saw the other 'nice' side of London and was happy to start our London adventure.

My favorite part of London was definitely the Back To The Future musical by a long shot. I loved all of the songs and props that were part of the show and the actors were very talented and made it so much fun to watch. The best part of the show was definitely the end for me because Marty and Doc got into the time machine (a delorian) and it flew up above the crowd, it was flabbergasting!

Over all I really enjoyed London. Not so much the endless shopping but everything else was awesome.

London was a real surprise for me, I had lived here for a few months over 20 years ago but it seems I didn't take the time to enjoy the city properly back then. This trip was awesome, we went pretty full on trying to see and do everything we could possibly pack into 6 or 7 days and I'm convinced I have seen more of London in the last week than I did when I lived here!

It was especially cool seeing it again through the eyes of Max and Alyssa.

Highlights for me were catching up with a couple of mates (Noel and Mike), touring Lords with Max and doing the Abbey Rd Crossing pic, seeing the kids faces when we arrived at Westminster and first seeing Big Ben, Harry Potter Studio Tour (not even a fan of the movies but the behind the scenes stuff fascinates me anyway) and going out to Guildford to have a look at the Andertons music store.

The vibe around London was cool with the buildup to the Coronation so that definitely added to the atmosphere while we were there.

  1. I hope that wasn't raspberry in that can of drink Max! Love the photo of dad on the throne 😂 Man the Brits sure go all out with their pomp & ceremony. We watched most of it on TV. What is the man doing up the pole in Paris?
