This morning started off a bit rough with both kids having a bout of home sickness. But we managed to turn things around for the afternoon. After a drive to a laundromat we decided to spend the rest of the day at the Ranch. The sun was shining and the temperature was toasty, so Max and I decided that we would achieve the goal we had set ourselves of swimming in the outdoor pool.
Turns out when it comes to swimming holes the Germans are tough! (On our way back to the ranch we stopped at a swimming lake. It had frogs, fish and was a very murky brown). After viewing the lake, we decided that the pool was the better option. The good thing about the pool was that you could see what was in the water. The bad thing about the pool was that you could see what was in the water! But Max and I were stoked we achieved the goal we had set ourselves. Thankfully it was after the swim that I spotted a snake eating a tadpole!
Both kids decided to do some schoolwork after this. Max worked on creating a photo story based on the Old West Ranch. The first 8 photos were taken by Max. Alyssa worked on a history research project.
We finished the day with a family lasso competition… I’ll leave this for Max to explain. All I’ll say is that it’s a good thing I’ve been working on not being quite so competitive.

I give the Old West Ranch an 11/10. I loved it here. With all of the animals and cool people. I would absolutely come here again if I was ever in Germany. Best place EVER!! That's me done I will be coming back tomorrow from Colditz Castle.
Max and Alyssa are doing so well on this huge trip. Loving all these pics!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to the lasso creation back home! I feel you'll all have an unfair advantage with all this practise you've had. Super photos Max! Nana
ReplyDeleteYou've excelled yourself with thesaurus use today, Max! Nailed it! (Unlike Mum with the lassooing)
ReplyDeleteHome misses you guys too. Love the lasso competition commentary! I love that you achieved your swimming goal too-sounds like quite the adventure with all the creatures. Your photos are very impressive, Max! Love you guys! Aunty Nona.
